Hotel Occupancy Tax Funding

Hotel Occupancy Tax Funding

The City of Bertram is very interested in promoting tourism and the lodging industry in Bertram. Some events (or parts of an event), programs or services can receive funding from hotel occupancy taxes collected by the City. The City levies a seven percent (7%) tax rate on lodging which is less than thirty (30) days in duration.

Request for funding for hotel occupancy tax funds must be approved by the City Council. Only those items which are eligible for funding from hotel occupancy tax funds under State law will

be considered.

A hotel occupancy tax application can be downloaded and must be submitted to the City at least 30 days prior to the event and a least 5 days prior to the City Council meeting at which the item will

be considered.

If the City Council approves hotel occupancy tax funding for an event or program, a funding agreement must be signed.

During the preparation for the event or programs or services, receipt's can be submitted to the City Treasurer for prompt payment.

Questions or requests for additional information should be directed to the City Secretary
