Citizen Updates

Keeping You Informed

The City of Bertram Mayor, Council members and staff, have been building a website for our City over the

past couple of years. There is still a lot to add and updates to be made. This website will continue to be a work in progress.

The intent of this website, is keeping our citizens informed. You now have the opportunity to go to the City's website and read what is happening with your City government. Some of the things we will cover in our Citizen Updates page are projects the City is currently doing, or explanations of WHY certain decisions were made.

We also wanted the Citizen's of Bertram to have the convenience a website can provide. You will be able

to print out forms and permit applications, information fact sheets, from your own computer. You can

also email the City Staff from this website, with questions, requests, or comments.

FINANCIAL LOOK AT YOUR CITY

The City of Bertram has closed the city financials for the fiscal year 2017/2018. Early numbers look good for our city, An audit of those financial books is scheduled to be performed by the end of the calendar year.

The City is currently working on CDBG grant project which includes increasing the size of the water line along a portion of Highway 29 to Reed Circle. The water line increase to 8" inch line will allow for fire protection to that side of the highway. Also included in this project is the sealing and coating of the wet walls at the lift station located on the corner of Reed and Hutto Street. This will prevent any rain water runoff from entering the lift station and over taxing the pumps.

Overall, the City of Bertram continue to remain under budget projects and expenditures.

Elm Street Repaving Project

Each year the city chooses a street for resurfacing. This years project is Elm Street, from West Street to FM 243 (Grange Street). Burnet County Precinct 3 provides the man power and the machinery for the project. Bertram provides the materials, which we pay for from 1/4 % sales tax, which is set up for only streets maintenance. We had several things go our way this year. First sales inside the city limits were up, second we did a smaller project last year which left us a small surplus on funds.
